July 31, 2010: Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative – Industry Day

The IJIS Institute, on behalf of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI), will be hosting an NSI Industry Day as part of our Summer Industry Briefing. The NSI Industry Day segment will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Sanibel Island Resort in Fort Myers, FL. The agenda will include a program overview by Thomas O’Reilly, Director of the NSI Program Management Office (PMO), as well as a technology overview by David Lewis, NSI Chief Technology Officer. The remainder of the session will include technical presentations of the national SAR Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD) and Service Specification Packages (SSP) supporting the submission of SAR data to fusion centers.
The NSI Industry Day represents the first instructive session on the NSI and the SAR IEPD and SSP artifacts. The IJIS Institute invites all interested companies to attend both the NSI Industry Day and the full Summer Industry Briefing which will begin on July 30, 2010 at 8:00 am. The 2010 National Forum on Criminal Justice & Public Safety will be held August 1-3, 2010. This year’s theme is "Navigating Evidence Based Policies and Practices." As budgets dwindle, addressing chronic problems facing communities is more challenging. Leaders at all levels of government are relying on evidence-based policies and practices to establish funding priorities. The 2010 National Forum on Criminal Justice & Public Safety will convene leaders from state, tribal, and local governments and the private sector to work collaboratively in navigating the choppy waters of improving community safety and find the most effective course of evidence-based policies and practices on which they can sail towards success.
