This Xirrus educational webinar will focus on the keys for successful Wi-Fi deployments to stay ahead of the exponential increase in demand for the Wireless Edge. We will share our lessons learned from thousands of successful high capacity Wi-Fi deployments. This Webinar will explore the issues and differences that are encountered when deploying wireless for use in Federal Government and DoD environments and how to future proof your wireless network to support larger numbers of users and devices.

August 11, 2011: Reorganizing Federal IT to Address Today's Threats
New reports show US government servers are faced with 1.8 billion cyber attacks every month. A quick look at these numbers and it is painfully obvious that status quo security measures are not keeping pace with today's threats. Congress has taken a step by introducing the Cyber Security Public Awareness Act of 2011, but more evolution of our cyber defenses needs to occur. In this webcast, Richard Stiennon, analyst with IT Harvest and author of Surviving Cyber War, and Paul Zimski, VP of solution strategy with Lumension, will examine: today's threats targeting government IT systems, how federal IT departments can be reorganized to improve security and operations, and what key endpoint security capabilities should be implemented.

Kim Oppalfens, SCCM MVP

In this session, you will learn:

* Different ways to maintain the applications previously deployed when a workstation needs to be re-imaged.

*3 different ways to achieve this, based on your current application deployment processes, and based on your expectations when all application deployments need to be ready.

*The session will leave some time to discuss these methods and brainstorm on alternative ways to achieve this.

August 17, 2011: Complimentary "Connecting with Management" Telework Webcast

Hosted by Telework Exchange and Adobe, "Connecting with Management" is a complimentary Webcast that will take place on Wednesday, August 17 from 2:00

- 3:00 p.m. ET. The Webcast will focus on agencies' successful strategies and best practices in telework implementation, including communication strategies between management and remote workers, management training, and evaluating remote employees' performance. Panelists will discuss how to build management support for a robust telework program, key training requirements to ensure effective communication, and technologies that enable collaboration for a widespread workforce.

August 23, 2011: ISSA Web Conference - Silver Cloud of Success or Storm Cloud on the Horizon

Every IT paradigm shift incorporates new technologies and changes to the usage model. This is also accompanied by new threats and (eventually) solutions that equate to changes in security practices. Sometimes these solutions are new and sometimes they are a re-tasking of technology that has been around for a while. This session will look at consumerization and cloud computing, identify a number of the threats, and discuss some of the technologies that can address these threats.

The 2011 National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) National Training Event aims to build on the success of the 2009 national training event by providing new, valuable breakout sessions, intriguing keynote speakers, and a wealth of NIEM users from various communities of interest. Further, with the growth that NIEM has experienced since September 2009, NIEM anticipates a surge in the number of attendees for its 2011 event in Philadelphia, which will provide outstanding networking opportunities to participants. With the addition of new partners and new domains, this year's training event will surely exceed expectations.

October 20-21, 2011 the information security community will come together to build a roadmap for the next decade. Be proactive, shape your security programs and career to create the future you want. Noted experts, executive leaders, and innovative professionals will lead sessions to help you be effective today and lay the foundation for the future.

GovCloud 2011 is a day-long event where IT professionals in federal, state, and local government will develop a deeper understanding of the options available. Early adopters and other experts will share their experiences and strategies for making the most of cloud services in government IT environments. Topics will include public cloud services, private clouds, hybrid clouds, and shared clouds, and how to use those platforms in a way that minimizes risks and satisfies FISMA and other requirements. Join us for this insightful gathering of government IT executives to hear first-hand about the challenges and opportunities of cloud computing.

An Introduction to More Effective and Efficient Endpoint Security
The volume and sophistication of malware is skyrocketing, and traditional anti-virus approaches are struggling to keep up. It's time to rethink how we protect our endpoints. Instead of trying to build a better anti-virus "mousetrap," without any shift in the underlying management model for vetting change in endpoint environments, security professionals should investigate more innovative approaches to endpoint security that can automate trusted change policies.

Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite Receives 3rd Party NIST Validation, Industry Praise and Enhanced Capabilities
After announcing the addition of Device Control to the Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite (L.E.M.S.S.) last month, L.E.M.S.S. continues to gain momentum as the most robust and agile suite in the industry. As evidence of this momentum, Lumension, a global leader in endpoint management and security, today announced further industry recognition.

How Stuxnet Demonstrates that Software Assurance = Mission Assurance
For decades, the people responsible for guarding most U.S. critical infrastructure facilities have felt that cyber security just doesn't apply to them. Their facilities rely on industrial control systems (ICS)-custom-built suites of systems that control essential mechanical functions of power grids, water treatment plants, and the like-usually not connected to the Internet, also known as "air-gapped." Many industry owners, operators, and regulators believed that this security model provided an infallible, invulnerable barrier to malicious cyber attacks from criminals and advanced persistent threat (APT) adversaries alike. Until 2009, they were pretty much right.

How the State of Florida Builds Information Security Expertise Despite Escalating Risk & Tight Budgets
Training and education have always been a top priority for the State of Florida's Office of Information Security within the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology. The OIT was established immediately following the events of 9/11. Its mission? To help the State's executive branch agencies address cyber security issues and to ensure statewide compliance with Federal and State security standards.

Lumension Enriches Core Endpoint Security Suite and Enhances Data Protection with Device Control
Removable media continues to be a valuable productivity tool that facilitates quick and easy data access while improving
collaboration, but the looming risk of data loss and the introduction of malware through removable media is a very real,
costly concern for organizations. In fact, the latest estimated cost of a data breach incident, according to the 2010 annual
study by the Ponemon Institute, is up to $7.2 million - or $214 per compromised record; and this figure will only continue to
increase as new regulations are put into effect that impose criminal penalties on the organizations involved.
