The acquisition world must live on the bleeding edge of cybersecurity, not only to address agencies’ current requirements but to anticipate their future needs. At a minimum, acquisition shops must be up to speed with current challenges, providing at least piecemeal or à la carte access to the products and services needed to meet today’s threats and fulfill Executive Orders, OMB mandates and NIST standards. But to adequately address the cybersecurity challenge, acquisition officers must look to the future; security requirements must be baked-in from the beginning of the product development cycle as well as solicitations. Cybersecurity should not entail add-on products and services but, rather, fully-integrated solutions made up of pre-authorized products and services.
Learning Objectives:
• How agencies acquire the products and services they need to protect their infrastructure and data
• How agencies acquire the capabilities to keep up with the dynamic cybersecurity challenges
